Marci and the girls brought home a new puppy last night — a female mix between a Chocolate Lab and a Beagle appropriately named “Hershey”. It’s been a while since we had dogs. I expect it to be quite an adjustment.
I took her on a short jog to the mailbox this afternoon and she did a wonderful job staying with me even though we don’t yet have a collar that fits (so she wasn’t on a leash).

Funny - I did an utterz a couple days ago about the “first results so far for training the puppy“. We learned a LOT at Hearts and Paws down the street. I can give you my notes if interested. I took a ton.
They have free classes, kids camps, 2-3 times a month on Saturdays. You should consider taking the kids there with your new pup.
We’ve trained puppies in the past with good success so we’re going to proceed with a wait-and-see plan. So far, so good. The best part is that Hershey seems to be naturally house-broken. She apparently spent her first 8 weeks outside — perhaps that is a factor?
